The Top of the South Marine Biosecurity Partnership coordinates efforts by the whole community to prevent and manage marine pest invasions. Led by the Tasman, Nelson, and Marlborough Councils and Biosecurity NZ, the Partnership is open to any organisation or industry keen to reduce marine biosecurity risks.
The region is the biggest centre for marine farming in the country, has the biggest fishing port, and is a popular tourist area. These, and the natural and cultural heritage of the area, are threatened by harmful marine organisms.
